USS Enterprise is an American aircraft carrier from World War II. Its name means "enterprising", "darts" and "full of energy". It was the seventh ship bearing this honorable name in the US Navy. It was colloquially called "Big E". He served very actively in the Pacific throughout the war with Japan. He was honored with up to 20 stars for combat operations.

The USS Enterprise was commissioned in May 1938. It was equipped with 8 universal guns of 127 mm caliber. During the war, new more effective small-caliber anti-aircraft guns and large-caliber machine guns were constantly replaced and added. The aircraft carrier was also equipped with the latest air surveillance radars, radio altimeter and rangefinders. Depending on the period, the USS Enterprise took 70-91 aircraft. They were fighters, dive bombers and torpedo planes.

Official statistics confirm that 911 enemy aircraft were shot down by aircraft and artillery. His dive bombers and torpedo planes caused 71 enemy ships and ships to sink, and damaged another 192.
